The MTV Europe Music Awards "(EMA)" awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards "(EMA)" were established in 1994 by MTV Networks Europe to celebrate the most popular music videos in Europe.
Originally beginning as an alternative to the American MTV Video Music Awards, the MTV Europe Music Awards is today a popular celebration of what MTV viewers consider the best in music.
The awards are chosen by MTV viewers throughout Europe.
The MTV Europe Music Awards always changes its host city. The United Kingdom has hosted the event three times in London, Edinburgh and Liverpool. Northern Ireland will host it for the first time in 2011 when the awards are held in Belfast.
The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Madrid, Spain.
The awards are presented annually and broadcast live on MTV Europe, MTVNHD and most of the international MTV channels as well as online.

In 2007, the Foo Fighters opened the show and front man Dave Grohl hosted the VIP Glamour Pit area, interviewing celebrities live on air and Tokio Hotel performed "Monsoon" under raining water.
They also picked up the Headliner award at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008 held in Liverpool on November 6, 2008


and the Award for Best Group on November 5, 2009 at the MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) held in Berlin, where they also performed "World Behind My Wall"




They also won the Award for Best World Stage Performance on November 7, 2010 at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid.

On Wednesday March 2, 2011, it was announced that the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards would be held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The event will take place at the city's Odyssey Arena on Sunday November 6.
