"UK fan Robyn put together this fantastic DdM/Monsoon video using various live performances and video clips of Tokio Hotel. We thought it was perfect for the anniversary and asked her to share a few words about her video with us:

Six years ago on the 15th August 2005 a small band from Germany released their first ever single ‘Durch Den Monsun.’ Despite being formed in 2001 and playing in small clubs and gigs in Germany as ‘Devilish’ they were more or less unknown. With the release of ‘Durch Den Monsun’ this band, now named Tokio Hotel, shot to success overnight and started off on what was to become a fantastic career. Over the next six years, this small band has grown international, connecting with people all over the world; in America, all over Europe and Japan to name a few. They have three German albums; ‘Schrei’ ‘Zimmer 483’ and ‘Humanoid (German);’ two English albums; ‘Scream’ and ‘Humanoid (English);’ under their belts, not to mention their ‘Best Of’ album while the band are only just out of their teenage years.
Yet, despite all the success that Tokio Hotel have achieved over the last six years, ‘Durch Den Monsun’ remains to be a favourite with the band and the fans alike. It symbolises the start of Tokio Hotel and every Tokio Hotel fan has their own special connection with the song. This video has been on youtube for a while now, and it always makes me smile to see comments from people talking about their own personal experience with the song and what it means to them. It’s true that every fan has a unique connection with the song which, in my opinion, is what makes it so fantastic. When it’s performed live, everyone in the room sings along with Bill, and that just captures the magic of ‘Durch Den Monsun.’
Over the last six years the song has grown and developed along with the band and it has many different live and recorded versions. ‘Durch Den Monsun’ has an official music video, as does ‘Monsoon,’ the English version of the song which was released in 2007. During the ‘Schrei! Live’ tour in 2006, ‘Durch Den Monsun’ was peformed live and it was also performed live in German in 2007 during the ‘Zimmer 483’ tour. ‘Monsoon’ was also performed live in 2010 during the ‘Humanoid City’ tour. ‘Durch Den Monsun’ has an acoustic version (which you will hear at one point in this video). But these are just the videos that I have included in this video. No Tokio Hotel concert would be complete without a performance of either ‘Durch Den Monsun’ or ‘Monsoon’ and there are so many different fantastic performances of this song that I could mention. And how could we forget the remixed version of ‘Durch Den Monsun’ with Japanese lyrics? Through the different performances, you can see how the band has evolved, from their appearance, to Bill’s voice, to the pitch that song is performed at. Yet, despite this, it is still the same song that Tokio Hotel fans have come to know and love.
